Michelle Reader- Visits Blackburn Shopping Centre

What's on - Recycled art at The Mall
04 Apr 2013 - 27 Apr 2013

London based artist Michelle Reader will be here at The Mall Blackburn on Saturday 27th April. Michelle uses recycled materials to create unique figurative sculptures. She has been working with recycled materials since 1997 and also has a background in design for performance. Her sculptures sometimes have mechanical elements, using the working parts of old toys, clocks or other objects.
The Mall has commissioned Michelle to undertake a unique recycling project. Using recycled waste from The Mall, Michelle will create a bespoke life size sculpture which will then remain on display at the centre.
Visit The Mall Blackburn on Saturday 27th April from 10am to 4pm and you can watch a Michelle create an exciting sculpture using our recycled waste.

PROP-MAKING AND DESIGN FOR PERFORMANCE

I occasionally collaborate with performers and theatre companies. I have designed set, props and costumes for shows such as dANTE OR dIE’s Caliper Boy, and Greg McLaren's Riot Pilot. I also create specialist props such as an interative Wave portal for the Silver Swimmers (street performers) and a mechanical bird for Garsington Opera.
