Getting started

I have decided to begin my work with primary research drawing the people around me, and produce a drypoint and a lino print. Then from this I will see who influences me and how I can use there way of working in my work.
Drypoint printing;

In drypoint the surface of the plate is scratched, gouged, punctured, scraped or abraded, but the material itself is not removed, it is just pushed to the side, forming a kind of curl. Thus the lines will present a metal burr which, when looked at through a magnifying glass, shows up as a kind of broken metallic wave, like the ridges of a ploughed field.It is this 'burr' which holds the ink, and gives a drypoint line, or area, its typical velvety appearance. I will use these techniques in my work to show the movement in an image, so it shows depth.

A student on our course called Alice Salad gave me some feedback on how to improve my blog.

My blog;
 you need to explain WHY you have chosen to do human figures. cant be just because you like it. really think about why :)
sort your artist research out, make it more clear and take that massive list of artists off cus it makes it difficult to read and boring. make a quick list of media you want to use, ideas of final piece. your blogs a bit messy atm. and only put on things that are relevant otherwise its gunna be harder for you to think of ideas. xxxxx

for artist research dont copy things off internet unless you have read the info and its relevent. explain why you like the artist and how it relates to you and your work. the examiner and tutors already know about the artists background. if youre gunna get info off internet only put what media they use, the explanation- i.e what the art work is about and how they thought of it/got there. watch videos and documentaries about the artist and it will help you to understand more and give you ideas. i watched 2 documentaries this week and they have helped me and given me ideas about my own work and the meaning behind it :) ..i sound like a teacher haha! hope this helps. and this is my fmp blog: http://alicesagarfmp.blogspot.co.uk/ xxx

An Idea:
why dont you take photographs of people and their movement, then strip it down to one line drawing that looks interesting enough and then create a wire sculpture of the drawing? :) x

I am yet again finding wire sculptures which are inspiring me the work isnt in great detail, but is to a standard of ellegance and makes an impression on me and the use of her wire tecnique and ideas.

British contemporary artist, Rachel Ducker was originally trained as a jeweller. With an insatiable desire to create she turned her attention to sculpting the human form in wire, concentrating on the expressive and emotional dynamics of human nature.

My Pitch

From the vibe of other students and how their own pitches went, it didnt seem promising. I went in my pitch feeling very nervous but I was trying to be possitive. It went brilliantly, I explained I wanted to do the human Figure in many ways but not too sure yet, So they advised me to go away and find some more research which may influence me, which will get me started. To go and visit some art galleries see how artists have used the Human Figure in their own work and gather some primary research.

Mario Armengol's

As i was starting to lean towards wire I didnt want to cose my options too early , then I found this work which is very unique and could use this in my work. Yet again I could use this medium in a life drawing lesson. I also like how its not limited to a certain scale . Mario's work is abstract and not a procise repulicate of the human form.

Delicate Wire Sculpture

As I was amazed by other wire work I research which other artists use wire, and came across these very delicate, simple but very effective wire drawings. Which is inspiring me to use wire in a life drawing class you get some practise pieces and maybe better effects in my work, and see how well they would turn out. So I am going to use this work within mine as an honourable inspiration. I will also use the fine lines and the flexiable wire.

Barbara Licha: Wire Figures

I found this artwork on the internet and its made me lean towards the medium wire, it shows great structure but simple, effective and shows potential within my work. It also appeal me to her as it looksn basic and not very detailed  or prisise which I could very easily relate to as i dont class myself as a well skilled drawing artist but do have basic skill which I could  put inn to practise with wire.

I had a trail at trying to make this way of working but as i attempted it, it began to miss shape or just not to my liking but i still may have a another try at a later date.

Polish artist Barbara Licha, based in Australia, is interested in the complexity of the human condition and explores parallels between actual people and the ones in her imagination. I particularly like her wire figure sculptures with their gestures in their tangled worlds or boxes. In her work, Licha tries to convey what she sees inside people: their wishes, dreams and desires.

My FMP - Human Figure

It has taken great thought to decide what subject/ theme to do for my Final Major Project, after deciding then deciding it doesnt have potential or I dont see how it can progress future in mediums I would like to use so I have spend the last few days exploring and researching which subject have the best potential and can be used in several mediums.
It has taken great thought to decide what subject/ theme to use for my Final Major Project.
After toying with ideas and researching subjects, I found the 'human figure' to be the best theme for me. This is because I feel it has the best potential and won't restrict me from the freedom of my ideas and the mediums I would like to use and can be used in any form and very easy access to it too. to conclude I am going to do for my Final Major Project is the human figure. I think the human figure is very vast and can produce primary research very easily as I am surrounded by people on a daily basis, the theme is very easy access.
Lets see if I have made the right decision and wait and see for the final piece.

Oliveira's art looks like it's been drawn freehand across the world with a black pen - but in fact, it's all intricately assembled wire sculptures.

After graduating with a degree in Sculpture from the University of Fine Arts in Lisbon in 2008, Oliveria quickly turned his attention from ceramics to wire - exhibiting two award-winning shows the following year.

"Inspiration for what I choose to represent comes from many different places, but in the main, I am inspired by drawing," he explains.

My thoughts

I wasn't too sure about the movement idea as the techniques i would experience are way in which i don't know I could relate them to movement, so changed after some hard thinking and exploring journeys and the walks which I wellies go on, I found that its not a subject which has very much potential and couldn't really move forward so now I am going to do some research and find a subject which interests me. Such as my family; girlguidinguk; animals. I am now going to go away and in my own have a think and research to go progression and support my idea ready for my pitch on Tuesday or Wednesday.

After asking people around me on their ideas, my mum came up with a great one. To use something that is relevant at this present time, so by using the horse meat scandal you could show through a painting or drawing the bond which a horse and rider have  and trust with each other torn away in an instant and how animals are all threaten differently and unequal.
