Wire Final Piece

I had a little bit of a time limit on my wire work and I began making the back of the human figure but this took me three days. So judging on how long it took me to make that much, I wont  have time to make this piece and others in time for my deadline. I have made many wire pieces which also took me a long time to give me a good idea of how the final outcome may look like. I would have looked intreging to look at but due to the time scale I had to adapt around this and try out other techniques which I will be able to accomplish in the time given.

From making my clay and glue work I don't think I missing out on too much not making this I have other work which will also make a good effect. So I am going to carry on and see what I accomplish and work with what I have got and can achieve in the time given to the best of my ability.

Hot Glue Gun Final Piece...

 

 

I have began producing my other part of my final piece made by the hot glue gun developed on from my sample of the face. The glue is taken from several artists which I have looked at such as anthony gormley, Gary Farlow and so on. The glue represents the words when i read too long or when im tired so concerntrated on a piece of writting for too long. It has the texture of  the morse code but it doesnt read as anything as when i have tried out morse code myself its defornately something i cant feel as they all blend into one. So ive made the human Figure to represent myself and the weakness which i have.  

  I think its been successful so far, but as i can't cover the whole mannequin as i wont be able to get it off in one piece so I have left a strip at the back. I have done this so when i have removed it i can then sit it back on top and produce the strip at the back and attach it to the excisting body which will hopefully be easier to peel off the mannequin. At the same time i will patch up holes which i may have made from peeling it off the mannequin.

 

I have began peeling the glue off but the large clumps of glue which i created are taking the white paint off with it which i will have to scrape off later on. I will show the images of it taken off the mannequin before making the back piece but so far so good.

 

Here are some more better pictured of my first hot glue man, overall is very successful but looks delicate but is actually rather weighty. Myself is not a massively  keen on it as I don't think it gives off such a great appearance but from others reaction they like it so I decided to put in my exhibition with other work.

 

Clay Final Piece

As from my sample of clay i enjoyed the process and decided to use this tecnique to make my final piece. From looking at many artists and language weaknessess i have looked at Mo jupp and how others with maybe language barriers and how they communicate using their senses. So I looked at sign language morse code and alphebet coding. I have used my weakness as an advantage as i have used techniques from artists but represents piecing together a piece of writiing which may seem different but if you slowly build it piece by piece anything is achieveable.

I have taken these images below just to show how well it looks taken on a good quality camera and against a plain dark background to emphasis the quality and time taken in it. But the images above are good to show through the process and stages that i as at just as a quick image. Overall personally i think its a very successful piece of work.  

 

After putting my clay work to the side for a while to concerntrate on my other final pieces, I had forgotten how it looked. As I may exhibit this in my exhibition, I was advised my tutor kim to glaze it. I really wasn't liking that idea, but as I left it longer I didn't really have a choice in the matter and was made to glaze it ironoxide im now waiting for it to be fired.

My Finalised Idea

My final idea is to produce a series of sculptures influenced from the research shown earlier on my blog, of the human figure and ways to communicate than words. So I am going to produce a human figure in wire, clay, hot glue gun and bottle tops and maybe mod rock and Plaster of Paris. So from the samples I have produced and materials I have experimented with to produce sculptures of the human figure in a distorted scale than the body.
I would to be able to exhibit it in encove hanging by wire off a strip of wood you viewers can walk round it and see it from all angles. I want to make atleast 4 but if i have time left in the few weeks which we have left i will make more pieces such as the mod rock and the plaster of paris.

Why the Mannequin?

Ive used the mannequin for the human figures structure as its easy access and not limited on time to make my work. Also I would have alternately had to make a mould of the body to use instead but that would have been using too much time, which I didn't have.

As well as it being an easy source to use and portable it also shows the insecurities of my self, that you can mould a perfect person, but no ,no where is perfect. so I don't find that im not perfect from personal reasons (expressed in my work last year in my work). So am also carrying forward to extend past work by taking another weakness or insecurity and changing it in to a strength, which I express through a sculpture.

That's how I can refer to Ana Cuba- Body Distortion shown earlier in my work, which is putting out to others not to judge people before finding out the story behind the disfiguration.

Implications - Art that is inspired by human life and uses the human body as inspiration relates to a wide variety of viewers who are consumed with the way others perceive our species. Artists who use a variety of materials to recreate the human body are popular because the meaning behind this art is subjective to interpretation by the consumer. Quote from Kim Hyun, this also apply's to my work, were my meaning is irrelevant if others can connect to it in their own way.

My abilities may be different

DAVID OLIVEIRA
