Tuesday 18th September 2012
Photography- morning
Drawing with light
This morning we went in to the photography pathway to explore and have a taster of what photography is like, me and Megan got stuck in we explored any different methods on how we could make our photos more interesting. With drawing with light you have a long exposure, which allows your image to take im more light and movement we set ours to 30 seconds.

Textiles- afternoon
UAL
Objective:-
To create a series of experimental drawing samples using a range of papers. Your focus should consider surface and textures.

Consider:-
line- straight, curved, broken, organic, crisp, thick thin, continuous
Texture- smooth, eroded, flat, varied, rough, opaque, transparent, gritty, sleek
Colour- blended, solid, broken, greyed, dusty, bright, subdued, layers

Here is part of my work which I produced.

Then when I had produced a background by testing and experimenting with the protein dyes I ripped it up and used it with many other pieces of material to make a collage. From that I drew umbrellas on to it from the overhead projector to get some unusual shapes. On top I drew in bold with conte crayon Darwen tower as I looked at a painting done at Blackburn museum. Which gave me an end product for the mean time for next time were I can stitch over the conte crayon to make the tower stand out better.
The work below is simular to Paddy hartleys work, also I looked at Alice Kettles work.

Pathways -All

Thursday 13th September 2012
  • I went in to pathways today to explore the ideas and what type of ways I can be pushing my work forward in to, by developing further the pieces of artwork chosen at the trip to Blackburn Museum.
  • Spoke to Jo Conlon today to see were I was starting my work from, from the ways I have already experianced.  Between us and the pieces of artwork I chose at Blackburn Museum we decided to chose the darwen tower painting with the new top on it.
  • So I went away and found several artists in many pathways in which I could take future and influence in my work. Also made a list of ideas on what I could do with the painting later on in my work.

Artwork from Blackburn Museum 2012

Our foundation course looked through current years sketchbooks to see what type of work has been produced before and how to approach the course in general.
With the work just shown after work, we visited Blackburn museum to study three or more pieces of artwork, to reflect on such as: drawing, photos, emotion, video, film etc.
I chose three very different pieces of artwork:
-Horses,   George Cole    Presented by Miss Stock 1924
-The end of the butterfly chase    E.A.Hornel    Presented by John Duckworth Esq 1912
- Darwen Tower
- Alto Rhapsody  Ronald William Webb
- Hesperus William Linnell purchase 1905  When Hesperus calls to fold the flocks of men

See Blackburn Museum page above for more about the trip to Blackburn Museum

I started the Foundation University of Arts London course on Tuesday 4th September 2012. We had a meeting to introduce us to the course and staff who will be running it, and what they specialise in. We were all handed booklets and timetables letting us know what we are doing throughout the year. This gave us a students a good impression of the course.
Then we had a wonder around the freshers fair in the University Centre. But we were then suppose to go for a lecture but with some arrangement issues, the lecture room was already booked so we were able to go home. Which wasnt very good as we cant just solve things if its not been arranged properly, to go home.

The Beginning

Here is the start of working towards a Foundation University of Arts London in Media at level 4.
